Scope:
This policy applies to all undergraduate students enrolled in summer courses who are seeking financial aid through federal student loan programs and/or need-based grants. It outlines eligibility requirements, available aid types, application procedures, and deadlines relevant to the summer term.
Policy Content
For summer study, financial assistance consists primarily of loans. Merit scholarships/grants may not be used for summer study. Students interested in borrowing through a student loan program must be enrolled in at least six hours. Need-based grant may also be available for students who qualify for the Federal Pell Grant, as determined by the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
Any federal student loan amount released for summer school will reduce your eligibility for the remainder of the academic year. This reduction will not be replaced during the fall/spring semesters with gift aid.
