General Description

Policy Summary:


Trinity University is committed to fostering a community where civility, respect, and shared responsibility are fundamental values. To protect both University and personal property, this policy outlines behavioral expectations for students and identifies actions that are considered violations.
 

Purpose:


The purpose of this policy is to provide students with clear guidance on behaviors that constitute the misuse or disrespect of property, including both University-owned and personal belongings. These standards support a safe and respectful campus environment for all.
 

Scope:


This policy applies to all currently enrolled students of Trinity University.

Exceptions:

There are no exceptions. 

Policy Content

Students are expected to respect University property as well as the personal property of others. Any behavior that damages, alters, or misuses property undermines the shared trust and responsibility of the campus community.

Unacceptable behaviors include, but are not limited to:
 
  • Acts of vandalism against campus buildings, furnishings, signage, or equipment
  • Defacement of public or personal property, including graffiti or carvings
  • Destruction of property belonging to the University, students, faculty, or staff
  • Removing or relocating property (such as common area furniture or classroom equipment) without permission
  • Using University or personal property for unintended purposes without authorization

 

Performance Evaluation

Consequences of Policy Violation:

Students who violate this policy may be subject to disciplinary action as outlined in the Student Handbook. Sanctions may include, but are not limited to, formal warnings, fines, property damage or replacement fees, educational sanctions, parent or guardian notifications, loss of privileges, probation, suspension, or expulsion. The severity of the sanction will be determined based on the nature of the violation, the student's conduct history, and the impact on the campus community.

Vandalism Intentional damage or destruction of property.
Defacement Marking, writing on, or otherwise altering property in a way that diminishes its appearance or function.
Destruction of Property Causing permanent damage or rendering property unusable.
Unauthorized Use or Removal Taking, relocating, or using property without permission from the owner or responsible authority.
