General Description

Policy Summary:

Trinity University is committed to cultivating a learning environment grounded in civility, decency, and mutual respect. This policy establishes behavioral expectations for students and outlines actions that are considered incompatible with our values of safety, inclusion, and shared responsibility.

Purpose:

The purpose of this policy is to provide clear guidance to students on behaviors that are considered unacceptable within the Trinity community. These standards are in place to protect the wellbeing, dignity, and safety of all individuals on and off campus

Scope:

This policy applies to all currently enrolled Trinity University students.

Exceptions:

There are no exceptions. 

Policy Content

Students are expected to act with integrity and demonstrate respect toward others in both the campus and broader community. Behavior that threatens, harms, or intimidates others undermines the values of the University and will not be tolerated.

Examples of unacceptable behavior include, but are not limited to:
 
  • Acts of violence
  • Threats of violence, whether direct or implied
  • Intimidation or coercive behavior
  • Harassment of individuals or groups, when not addressed under Title IX
  • Bullying in person or through digital platforms
  • Stalking (as defined above), when not addressed under Title IX
  • Dangerous or reckless conduct that puts others at risk
  • Menacing, threatening, or belligerent behavior

Students who violate this policy may be subject to disciplinary action as outlined in the Student Code of Conduct.

 

Performance Evaluation

Consequences of Policy Violation:

Students who violate this policy may be subject to disciplinary action as outlined in the Student Handbook. Sanctions may include, but are not limited to, formal warnings, fines, educational sanctions, parent or guardian notifications, loss of privileges, probation, suspension, or expulsion. The severity of the sanction will be determined based on the nature of the violation, the student's conduct history, and the impact on the campus community.

Violence The use of physical force with the intent to harm others.
Threats Expressions or actions that imply harm or danger to another person.
Intimidation Behavior that causes fear or anxiety in others, often with the intent to influence or control.
Harassment Repeated, unwelcome conduct that interferes with an individual’s ability to work, learn, or participate in University life.

 
Bullying Aggressive behavior that involves an imbalance of power and is intended to harm, control, or intimidate another person.

 
Stalking A pattern of unwanted attention, harassment, or conduct that causes a person to feel afraid or unsafe
Dangerous conduct Any action that creates an unsafe environment or poses a threat to the health and safety of others.
